14.08.2019 UWC ships container flat cars to DELTATRANS

PJSC “Research and production corporation “United Wagon Company” (“UWC”, the Holding or the Company) (MOEX: UWGN), Russia’s largest manufacturer of freight cars1, has started to deliver its container flat cars designed to carry heavyweight containers to Russia’s North-West Area railway operator DELTATRANS. The supply of the entire lot of 60 Model 13-6903 flat cars is expected to be completed before the year end.

The new generation flat car with an axle load of 25 t is unique among long wheelbase models. The car has a loading length of 80 feet and a loading capacity of 74.5 tons. It is designed for the transportation of containers, including refrigerated containers, as well as tank containers for non-hazardous freights with a gross weight of up to 36 tonnes. The car design uses approved technical specifications for the placement and fastening of heavyweight containers. The number and location of twist locks allows for fitting add-on equipment in various combinations.

The 19-9855 car bogies and centre sill provide for a safe and reliable transportation of cargoes. Owing to the bogie design, the car interval between maintenance repairs can be extended up to 1 million km (or 8 years), which reduces significantly its whole life costs (32 years).

Roman Volkov, CEO at DELTATRANS, said, “As the Company is the owner and operator of heavyweight 80-feet container flat cars, we are building a fleet consisting entirely of new railcars produced by advanced Russian manufacturers. Partnering with UWC has allowed us to replenish the company's fleet with innovative rolling stock, furnishing us with additional competitive advantages and heightening client interest. The operational reliability of these new generation cars and the highly qualified technical support staff at UWC have played a major role in our choice of transportation company. We are growing and moving forward with the times.”
